iPhone 17 Slim/Air Could Have Been Apple's First Port-Free Smartphone

Apple reportedly planned to make the iPhone 17 Slim/Air its first smartphone without any charging port, but European Union regulations requiring USB-C connectivity have delayed these ambitions.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple hasn't abandoned its vision for a completely port-free iPhone, though it appears this won't happen with the upcoming generation. The company's ideal design would rely exclusively on wireless MagSafe charging while limiting data transfer capabilities to wireless methods only.
The EU legislation mandating USB-C ports on electronic devices has temporarily forced Apple to put these plans on hold, despite the company's clear interest in creating a truly seamless device design.
